Bernice T. Collins-Adkins

Bernice T. Collins-Adkins, age 82 of Clyde, passed away Thursday, October 12, 2017 at Heritage Village of Clyde. She was born in Bonny Blue, Virginia on September 27, 1935 the daughter of the late Oscar (Boss) Monday and Louise (Golden) Monday.

Bernice attended High School at Flatwoods H.S. in Jonesville, Virginia. She lived in Clyde for 65 years, and was a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church. She was happiest when surrounded by her family.

She is survived by her son, Floyd (Kim) Collins of Clyde; daughter, Vicki (Mike) Lawrence of Clyde; two sisters: Glenda Miracle and Vada Gross; eight grandchildren: Dustin Collins, Christopher Collins, Melissa (Collins) Hawblitz, Kim Lawrence, Quinn Lawrence, Angie Collins, Jay Collins, and Lisa (Collins) Zenner; and eleven great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Bernice is preceded in death by her son James Collins, and husbands: Floyd Collins, John Peters, and Joe Adkins.

Friends will be received on Monday, October 16, 2017 from 2-4 & 6-8pm at Foos Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 504 E. McPherson Hwy., Clyde. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at 10:00am at First Freewill Baptist Church, 929 N. Main St., Clyde. Burial will follow at McPherson Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made in Bernice’s honor to First Freewill Baptist Church.
