Zebedee Back, 81, of Bellevue passed away Monday, February 2, 2026 at his home. He was born January 4, 1945 in Salyersville, Kentucky the son of Greenbury and Esther (Holbrook) Back.
Zebedee retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad in 2005 after a long career as a carman, inspecting and maintaining freight cars. Outside of work, he enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing, and the excitement of finding unique items at local auctions. He also found peace in simply working on his property with his tractor.
He married Margaret (Rowe) Back in 1967, in Norwalk. She survives along with two sons: Daniel (Donna) Back and David (Jennifer) Back; daughter, Kathy Sue Scott; 4 grandchildren: Wyatt, Logan, Christine, and Morgan; 8 great grandchildren: Zeb, Lance, Elijah, Kamden, Corbett, Bowen, Loretta, and Harper; brother, Greenville Back; and half sister, Ann Burton.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Christine Ann Back; brother, Alfred Back; half-brothers, James, Emery, Clay, Richard, Riley, and John Back; and half-sisters: Phyllis Dunn, Sena Bowls, and Vina Belle King.
Friends will be received on Saturday, February 7, 2026 from 1-4 pm at Foos & Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue. Interment will be in Rowe Family Cemetery, Salyersville.
