Willie Clinton Hopkins of Sorrento, Florida died peacefully Wednesday, May 13, 2020 surrounded by his loving family in his home after a long battle with cancer. He was born December 2, 1954 to Clifford and Lorraine – Hager Hopkins in Amherst, Ohio. His parents preceded him in death.
He is survived by his children Donald E. Barron, Centerville, Utah and Jessica Ann DeVoogd, Black Diamond, Washington, four children. Three sisters, Exie Scribner, New London, Ohio; Teresa Hopkins, New London, Ohio; and Linda Sander, Orange City, Florida. He is also survived by his loving girlfriend whom he adored, Sharon Bell of Sorrento, Florida.
He was a 1973 Bellevue High School Graduate. He graduated from Southwest Florida Fire Academy as a Firefighter-Paramedic. He began his firefighting career in Arcadia, Florida but returned to Ohio. He was then employed at the Bellevue Fire Department where he continued as a firefighter until his retirement.
He was a true outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish, and trap. He was an avid Ohio State Fan and loved the Michigan rivalry. Willie was also a member of Bellevue Masonic Lodge #273.
The celebration of life will be held at a later date.
