Thomas E. Kochendoerfer, 58, of Leesburg, VA and formerly of Clyde passed away Thursday, February 26, 2026 at the Lansdowne Heights Memory Care Center in Leesburg. He was born June 8, 1967 in Ohio the son of Patricia Ann Kochendoerfer and raised by his loving grandmother Katherine Kochendoerfer and his aunt Kathryn Spence.
Lieutenant Colonel Tom retired honorably from the United States Air Force in 2018 after twenty-seven years of service, during which he served as an instructor and received numerous medals, badges, and awards. Outside of his military career, Tom completed a Master’s degree in education and coached multiple sports. He was especially devoted to his home state's teams, including Ohio State Football and the Cleveland Browns.
He is survived by his two sons: Spencer Kochendoerfer of Washington and Gavin Kochendoerfer of Virginia; former spouse, Sheri Kochendoerfer of Washington; aunt Kathryn Spence of Ohio and his sister, Michelle Kochendoerfer of Arizona.
Tom is preceded in death by his mother and grandmother.
Friends and family will gather on Saturday, March 21, 2026 from Noon until a memorial service will begin at 1 p.m. at Foos Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 504 E. McPherson Highway, Clyde. Interment and Military Honors will follow at McPherson Cemetery, Clyde.
