Santo “Sandy” Nasonti, 89, of Bellevue passed away Saturday, March 26, 2022 at The Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky. He was born May 11, 1932 in Cleveland the son of Biagio and Theresa (Baptista) Nasonti.
Sandy married Vivian (Soldano) on April 14, 1956, in Bellevue; she preceded him in death on March 16th, 1992.
Sandy was a multi-sport standout athlete and 1950 graduate of Bellevue High School. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy and served from 1951 until 1955. He was employed at Armstrong Air in Bellevue for 35 years. Sandy was a 25-year softball umpire, and coached C.Y.O. basketball and football for a number of years. He was a member of the former Club Amer-Ital and served as president. Sandy enjoyed every sport and was especially a fan of the Cleveland, Ohio State and Bellevue sports teams. He also enjoyed taking bus trips to the casino over the years along with playing poker.
Sandy is survived by his two sons, Edward (Cathy) Nasonti of Bellevue and William (Annette) Nasonti of Castalia; 4 granddaughters: Kelli (Charles) Merlo of Columbus, Sandy (Chris) Mulholland of Columbus, Alexa (Cody Garcia) Nasonti of Bellevue and Gabby (Ryan) Houghtlen of Norwalk; 4 great grandchildren; and companion of 27 years, Amy Patten of Bellevue. Sandy had 27 nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Sandy is preceded in death by 5 sisters: Josephine Costantino, Frances Famulare, Jan Frank, Angie Bruno, and Caroline Miano; and a brother, Tony Nasonti.
Private services with burial in Bellevue Catholic Cemetery will be observed. Foos & Foos Funeral Service, Bellevue is in care of arrangements.
