Santiago Zamora, age 75, of Harlingen, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, January 26, 2026. He was born on May 23, 1950, to the late Cosme and Candelaria (Martinez) Zamora.
Santiago enjoyed a life centered on hard work, family, and simple joys. He loved working and spending time outdoors, barbecuing, listening to music, and being surrounded by those he loved. For more than 25 years, he served as head landscaper for Doug Banks, a role he took great pride in. Earlier in life, Santiago joined the Peace Corps for two years, fulfilling his passion for cooking and helping others. While living in Ohio, he also worked at Clyde Nursery before permanently moving to San Juan, Texas.
Santiago is survived by his loving children, Angela Zamora of Harlingen, Texas, and Jamie Zamora of Hilliard, Ohio; and his cherished grandchildren, Troy, Ashley, and Nathan Garcia of Harlingen, Texas, and Olivia Zamora of Hilliard, Ohio. He is also survived by his brothers, Alfredo Zamora of Green Springs, Jose “Joe” (Anna) Zamora of Green Springs, and Jesse Zamora of Upper Sandusky; sisters, Effie Zamora of Fremont, Oralia Hansen of Fremont, Odelia (Manuel) Castillo of Fremont, Otilia (Len) Foos of Burgoon, and Mary Jane Zamora of Clyde, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Santiago was preceded in death by his brothers, Juvenal “Jerry” Zamora and Rodolfo “Rudy” Zamora.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, from 4-7:00 p.m. at Foos Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 504 E. McPherson Hwy, Clyde, OH 43410. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 609 Vine Street, Clyde, Ohio 43410. A private committal service will be held at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.
