Robert Eric Kanan, age 64 of Fremont, finally succumbed at Bethesda Nursing Home in Fremont, OH, on Monday, December 2, 2024. He faithfully battled with Parkinson’s Disease for 15 years and is now peacefully resting with our Divine Lord.
He was lovingly greeted at birth by his parents, Van R. Kanan and Mary Jane (Gabel) Kanan, enjoying his childhood and schooling in the city of Fremont. He was the youngest of 7 children. His 3 remaining siblings: Amelia Kayes of Dayton, OH, James Kanan of Fremont, and Ronald Kanan of Snowmass, CO, are sorrowfully relieved he isn’t suffering anymore. All is well, safely rest, The Lord is nigh.
Robert graduated from Fremont Ross High School and during that time he won 2 Governor’s Awards for jewelry he designed and cast using the lost wax process. During the 1980s and 1990s he was employed by American Power Co. and later by The Diamond Cellar. Both establishments were based in Columbus, OH.
During this time, he ambitiously ventured to Pakistan to purchase precious stones and gems. He was quite knowledgeable in various antiques and exercised a keen interest in photography and jewelry design.
His wish is to be cremated, and his ashes are to be relinquished into the flowing waters of the Sandusky River at a place designated by him as being his favorite spot during his childhood.
As we go, this we know, The Lord is nigh. Amen.
