Richard William Wott, Jr. of Clyde, age 72, went home to be with his Lord and savior on November 29, 2023 while in his home with his loving wife by his side.
He was born on February 10, 1951 to (late) Richard and Jean Wott. He graduated from Clyde High School in 1969, where he was an active member of the FFA. He then went on to attend Terra State for diesel mechanics.
“Bill”, as most knew him, began farming as a young adult with his family. He owned and operated Wott Brothers Grain and Dairy for over 40 years with his brother Tim, where you could always find Bill in his Allis Chalmers tractors.
In June 1988, Bill married Jill, the love of his life, at St. Paul Church in Clyde, Ohio. They were blessed with 35 beautiful years of marriage. They both enjoyed singing in the church choir where they participated in morning praise and the Christmas cantata. Bill and Jill also enjoyed time with their large family and long car rides.
Bill was the type to always be there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need no matter what. He always gave great hugs and always had a stash of skittles ready to share with his grandkids.
Bill is survived by his wife, Jill (Eaton) Wott, whom he married June 18, 1988; children: Zach (Brittany) Wott, Kelly (Ed) Baker, Robin (Greg) Reinhold, Wendy (Chris) Speelman, Brett (Jessie) Wott, Erika Wott, Mandy Wott, Adam (Nicole) Wott; grandchildren: Weston, Oaklynn, Gannon, Brinlynn, Blayze, Jimmy, Jon, Isaac, Sam, Leah, Jessica, Lauren, Jenna, Justin, Jacob, Grace, Ben, Macy, Brandyce, Bralyn, Andrew, and Emily; 10 great-grandchildren; and siblings: Priscilla Gruver, Patti (Michael) Matter, Pam Notley, and Tim Wott.
In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his grandson, Bryce Williamson, and brother-in-law, Denny Gruver.
Friends will be received on Monday, December 4, 2023, from 4-7:00pm at Foos Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 504 E. McPherson Hwy, Clyde, OH 43410. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at 10:00am at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 147 W Forest St, Clyde, OH 43410. Burial will follow at Butternut Ridge Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made in Bill’s honor to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or to St. Paul Lutheran Church.
