Richard (Rick) Alan Hopkins, aged 70, Sandusky, OH, passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, in Tucson AZ from a brief illness surrounded by his wife, son, and daughter-in-law. Rick was born in Harrisburg, PA on July 5, 1954, the son of John and Lorraine (Moses) Hopkins.
Rick married Roseann Schneider in 1981. He was a self-made man, becoming President and General Manager of Spiralcool Company in Bellevue, OH for over 40 years until his retirement. He graduated from The Ohio State University and attended business school at Bowling Green State University.
Rick is survived by his wife, Roseann, son Brian (Kenna), mother Lorraine, and grandsons, Edwin and Luke. He is also survived by brothers Stephen (Cynthia), Paul, Larry, and David (Diane); in-laws Charles (Ann) Schneider, Lawrence (Susan) Schneider, Elaine Gill, and Karen (Tim) Snyder. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
Rick is preceded in death by father John Hopkins and in-laws Edwin and Mary Jane Schneider, and brother-in-law Lawrence Gill.
Rick’s favorite past time was spending time with his two grandsons and watching them grow into wonderful young boys who never did anything wrong, according to Rick. He was an avid Cleveland sports fan, especially of The Ohio State Buckeyes. He looked forward to Friday night happy hours with beloved friends and family developing the best gin martini, solving the world’s problems, laughing, and telling old stories as only he could. Rick was a big personality, with a bigger heart, always first to help friends and family in need. He will be sorely missed by all.
A celebration of life will be held this summer in Ohio.
