Ray F. Bailey, age 84 of Clyde, OH, passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at ProMedica Memorial Hospital in Fremont, OH. Ray was born July 21, 1940, in Kentucky, the son of the late Walter and Mary (Craft) Bailey.
Ray was the kind of man who never met a stranger. Whether you knew him for decades or just a few minutes, his welcoming smile and easy conversation made you feel like family. A true handyman and a hardworking soul, there was no task too big or challenge too tough—Ray approached everything in life with determination, resilience, and strength.
He was a devoted family man, always placing those he loved above all else. His stories were legendary, filled with heart, humor, and a touch of mischief that left listeners hanging on every word. Ray had a deep love for Cleveland Guardians baseball and enjoyed watching the University of Kentucky Wildcats basketball and Ohio State football and basketball.
The Christmas season held a special place in Ray’s heart, and he made it magical for those around him. In quieter moments, he enjoyed the woodburning craft, a hobby that reflected both his patience and creativity. In his younger years, Ray enjoyed welding and spent many nights coon hunting with his good friend John Powell—moments he treasured deeply.
Ray leaves behind a legacy of love, loyalty, and determination. He was the kind of man you were lucky to know, and even luckier to call family.
Ray is survived by his daughters: Patricia (Bill) Bookmyer of Powell, OH, and Debra (John Schwochow Jr.) Bailey of Vickery, OH; siblings: Naomi (John) Hale of Bellevue, OH, Barbara (Larry) Akers of Georgetown, TX, and Harold (Catherine) Bailey of Costa Mesa, CA; aunt, Judy (Dex) Howard of Marietta, OH; and several cousins.
In addition to his parents, Ray is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Sylvia.
Friends will be received on Saturday, June 14, 2025, from 12:00pm until a funeral service beginning at 2:00pm at Foos Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 504 E. McPherson Hwy, Clyde, OH 43410. Burial will follow at McPherson Cemetery.
