Paul E. Roberts

Paul E. Roberts, age 77 of Clyde, was called home to be with his heavenly Father, Sunday, August 27, 2023, at ProMedica Memorial Hospital in Fremont, OH surrounded by his family. Paul was born September 8, 1945, in Gallipolis, OH, the son of the late Myrle E. Roberts and Marie G. (Hatfield) Saunders.

Paul was a member of the Clyde FOE post 2291, the past Fremont Moose 1286, and loyal employee of the former Kelsey Hayes for 34 years as a line lead before retiring in 2006.  Upon retirement, Paul looked forward to spending more time at his hobbies of bowling, golf, dancing, watching football and NASCAR, and ultimately cheering on his favorite team The Boston Celtics. Paul faithfully wore the team jacket when the Celtics played, which he believed helped them to victory. Paul enjoyed Saturday morning breakfast with other retirees and friends at local restaurants.
 
Early, Paul grew up in southern Ohio with his siblings and enjoyed working on cars and occasionally spending time at the local racetracks. Paul worked hard to support his family over the years and rarely missed work which speaks to his integrity and work ethic. Paul was always willing to help his family and wouldn’t shy away from helping total strangers in a time of need. Paul was a humble, kind, intelligent man with a quick sense of humor that would brighten any room. Paul had a deep love for his family and cherished the time spent throughout the years and especially during the holidays.

Paul was revered by many. Those who knew him will always remember him in their special way. Paul influenced many on his personal journey by his actions, attitude, and love for life. Paul will be profoundly missed, but not forgotten!

Paul is survived by his loving wife, Mary (Palmer) Roberts of Clyde, whom he married August 11, 1984, in Fremont; children: Jeffrey P. Roberts of Fostoria, Gail A. Roberts-Cobb of Fremont, Jody L. (Gregory) Jess of Fremont, and Leslie A. Setchel of Clyde; grandchildren: Paul C. Roberts, Brittany M. Roberts, Angela M. Cobb-Martinez, Matthew J. (Kayle) Cobb Jr., Austin P. Jess, Cydne’ E. Jess and Azrael Wilder; 12 great-grandchildren; special niece: Margaret Douglas-Garcia (and family); and siblings: Roger Roberts of Columbus, and Barbara Woodruff of Clyde.

In addition to his parents, Paul is preceded in death by his siblings: Eugene Roberts, Margena Dimitrovski, Carolyn Walkup, and Phillip Roberts.

Friends will be received on Saturday, September 16, 2023, from 11:00am until a Celebration of Life beginning at 3:00pm at Foos Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 504 E. McPherson Hwy, Clyde, OH 43410.
