Patrick L. Baker

Patrick L. Baker, age 74 of Clyde, passed away Friday, November 5, 2021 at his home. Patrick was born October 2, 1947 in Fremont, the son of the late Harold and Pauline (Swartzmiller) Baker.

Patrick graduated from Clyde High School in 1966. After graduation he began working at the Whirlpool Corporation in Clyde. In July 1967 he was drafted into the U.S. Army, and stationed for a short time in Germany before being reassigned to Vietnam until being honorably discharged in 1969. He returned to Clyde and continued to work at Whirlpool in the porcelain department for over 41 years until his retirement in 2007.

Patrick married Helen Wagner in June of 1969. God blessed them with four wonderful sons, two lovely daughters-in-law and twelve awesome grandchildren. They all gave Patrick the best times and memories. He enjoyed his grandchildren’s school events, sports, fair, and other activities.

Patrick was a faithful member of St. Mary Catholic Church and coached many baseball and basketball teams. He enjoyed watching sports, especially the OSU Buckeyes, Cleveland teams, and Clyde Fliers, golfing, fishing on the lake, walking at the Sorrowful Mother Shrine, and spending time with his family.

Patrick is survived by his wife, Helen (Wagner) Baker; sons: Patrick Baker Jr, Steve (Amy) Baker, Nick (Jillian) Baker, and Joseph Baker, all of Green Springs; grandchildren: Zac, Luke, Isaac, Julia, Austin (Paula), Matt (fiancé – Hannah Eberly), Mackenzie, Kristin, Cody, Kyle, Dylan, and Ashley; great-grandchild expected soon, Mayleigh; siblings: Mick (Tina) Baker of Fremont, Jim (Kay) Baker of Sandusky, and Luann (Sam) Derr of Cuyahoga Falls; and his two Pomeranian companions: Coco and Princess.

In addition to his parents, Patrick is preceded in death by his mother and father-in law: William Sr. and Florence Wagner; and brothers-in-law: William Wagner Jr, Rick Wagner, Paul Wagner Sr, and Frank Bender.

Friends will be received Tuesday, November 9, 2021 from 2-4 & 6-8pm with a rosary recited at 7:30pm at Foos Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 504 E McPherson Hwy, Clyde, OH 43410. A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at 10:30am at St. Mary Catholic Church, 609 Vine St, Clyde, OH 43410. Burial will follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. Military Honors will be conducted by the United States Army and the Clyde VFW Honor Guard.
