Myron “Mike” Ruffing, 83, of Bellevue passed away Monday, January 11, 2021 at The Willows at Bellevue. He was born September 8, 1937 in Bellevue the son of Alfred and Sophia (Miller) Ruffing.
Mike served in the United States Navy from 1956-1961. After his discharge from the Navy, Mike returned to Bellevue and married Carol (Gerber) on Oct. 27, 1962 at Holy Angels Church in Sandusky. Mike was employed by Norfolk Southern Railroad as a Detective until his retirement in 1995. He was well known for riding around town on his bike and never missed a cup of coffee at Burger King with his coffee klatch. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, and Eagles Aerie 490 where he enjoyed attending “Stag Night”. Mike could often be seen in the evenings sitting on his front porch chatting with the neighbors. He was an avid Ohio State Fan and would do the post-game analysis each week with his son, Michael. Mike loved his family and was instrumental in the day to day care of his granddaughter, Lorena. He had supper on the table every night when Kim and Mike came home from work. He enjoyed long conversations with his grandson about Ford cars.
He is survived by his son, Michael (Anita) Ruffing of Bellevue; daughter, Kim (Michael) Stults of Bellevue; grandchildren: Mickey (Andrea) Stults and Lorena Stults; step grandchildren: Shawn (Shana) Hemenway, Brian Hemenway, Mindy (Jared) Singleton; 12 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren; and brother, Alfred (Marie) Ruffing Jr.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents, wife, sisters: Elizabeth Ruffing, Rosemary Taylor, Janette Schmidt; brother, Donald Ruffing; and brother-in-law, Wilbur Taylor.
A graveside service will begin at 11 a.m. at Bellevue Catholic Cemetery on Friday, January 15, 2021. Foos & Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue is in care of arrangements.
