Matthew Henney, 46, of Battle Creek, MI and formerly of Bellevue passed away Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at his home. He was born June 5, 1978 in Sandusky the son of Terry Henney and Carol (Payne) Puchalski.
Matthew was a 1998 graduate of Bellevue High School. Upon graduation he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. and was honorably discharged after 4 years. He was very mechanically inclined which led him to being the head of vehicle maintenance at Camp Lejeune. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed working on cars. In Michigan, Matthew volunteered countless hours at the V.A. Hospital in Battle Creek.
He is survived by his father, Terry (Cindy Norman) Henney of Bellevue; mother, Carol Puchalski of Castalia; two brothers, Andrew (Carrie) Henney of Bellevue and Daniel Henney of Sandusky; nephews: Dane and Carson Henney; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Matthew is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Marvin and Grace Henney; maternal grandparents, Earl and Margie Payne; stepfather, Thomas Puchalski; and cousin, Nathan Rhineberger.
Friends will be received on Monday, June 2, 2025 from 10 a.m. until a funeral service begins at Noon at Flat Rock Ebenezer Community Church, 7500 North County Rd 29, Flat Rock, Ohio. Burial will follow at Flat Rock Cemetery.
