Mary Anne (O’Brien) Klein, 83, of Lakewood and formerly of Bellevue, passed away on Monday, August 18, 2025, at the Haven at Lakewood Senior Living Center. She was born on August 16, 1942, in Dayton, to the late John F. “Jack” and Eleanor (Volin) O’Brien. Mary Anne married Carl R. Klein on April 7, 1972 in Dayton; He preceded her in death in 2018. She was also preceded in death by her step-mother, Dorothy “Dot” Hoyne-O’Brien; her brother, John D. O’Brien; and her sisters, Maureen O'Brien, Jane Hosty, Mary Tee Hoyne, and Nancy McGuire.
Mary Anne spent the early part of her career teaching in various locations across the United States, including Chicago and New Orleans. In the early 1980s, she moved to Bellevue, her husband's hometown, where she raised her children. She was a dedicated member of Immaculate Conception Church in Bellevue and was actively involved with Immaculate Conception School during her children's attendance. In her younger years, she enjoyed cooking, knitting, and participating in a Friday night couples golf league. Above all, Mary Anne treasured time spent with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her two sons: John Scott (Donna) Klein of Lakewood and Daniel Klein of Tiffin; three grandchildren: Molly, Mike, and Tommy; her brothers: Mike (Jane) O’Brien, Tommy (Sharon) O’Brien, Terry (Kay) O’Brien, and Danny (Colleen) O’Brien; her sisters: Patty (Jim) Hall, Kathy (Joe) Smith, and Maureen (Dave) Patten; her sister-in-law, Mary O’Brien; and her brother-in-law, Bill McGuire.
A memorial visitation will be held on Monday, August 25, 2025, from 4-7 p.m. at Foos & Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue. A memorial Mass will follow on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 231 E. Center Street, Bellevue.
