Mary M. (Homegardner) Scagnetti, 96, of Bellevue passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at Orchard Grove Assisted Living. She was born April 8, 1923 in Sandusky, the daughter of Albert and Rose Marie (Baur) Homegardner.
Mary was a 1941 graduate of Sandusky High School. She married Harry J. Scagnetti in Holy Angels Church on October 25, 1947. Together they founded Scagnetti Construction Company in Bellevue and over the next 50 years they completed site work, building and hundreds of paving/drainage jobs in Bellevue, Sandusky, and other neighboring communities. They were also owners of Harry’s Wash n Fill in Bellevue. In 2000, Mr. and Mrs. Scagnetti were presented the Founders’ Award by the Bellevue Area Chamber of Commerce. Mary was also a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Bellevue and enjoyed taking walks, birdwatching, and tending to her flowers.
She is survived by her children: Pauline Coleman of Catawba Island, Lois (Jerome) Simon of Erie, PA, Karen (Lynn) Middleswarth of Bellevue, Christine (Mark) Dietzel of Bellevue, and Kevin (Jennifer) Scagnetti of Bellevue; grandchildren: Anthony Coleman, Kelsy (Coleman) Krise; Nicholas and Christopher Simon; Benjamin, Geoffrey and Shane Middleswarth; Rochelle (Velloney) Windsor and Nathanial Velloney; and Carly, Rachel, and Madison Scagnetti.
In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death her husband, Harry J. Scagnetti in 2002; sisters: Helen Savord and Martha Koch; and brothers, George, Roy, and Charles Homegardner.
Friends will be received on Monday, July 15, 2019 from 4-7 p.m. at Foos & Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue where the Rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. A funeral Mass will begin on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 231 East Center Street, Bellevue. Burial will follow at Bellevue Catholic Cemetery.
