Marlin Otis Dean, 100, formerly of Bellevue and most recently of Lakewood Ranch, Florida, passed away November 28, 2025, at his home. He was born on June 1, 1925, in Grayson, Kentucky, the son of William M. and Hattie A. (Adkins) Dean.
Marlin honorably served in the United States Coast Guard from his enlistment in 1943 until his discharge in 1946. Following his service, he worked for the Norfolk & Western Railroad until his retirement in 1985. In his free time, he enjoyed gardening, fishing, boating, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Marlin was married to Claudette K. (Springer) Dean for more than 50 years, and she preceded him in death in 2016. He is survived by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, Marlin was preceded in death by his son, Wayne R. Dean; daughter, Marlene M. Beier; sister, Ollie “Irene” Koch; and daughter-in-law, Blanca E. (Casteneda) Dean.
Friends will be received on Friday, December 5, 2025, from 4–6 p.m. at Foos and Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue, where a funeral service will begin on Saturday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Bellevue Cemetery.
