Mark Whaley, 50, of Bellevue passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2020 in an automobile accident with his loving grandson, P.J. Gaston.
Mark was born August 7, 1969 in Sandusky, Ohio the son of William Gene Whaley and Janet Sue (Todd) Whaley. Mark worked as a manger of Clean Scene in Sandusky. In his younger years, Mark was an avid skater before he peaked his interest in racing and began go kart racing in 1980. In 2000 mark began racing Sprint Cars in the 305 feature racing division until retiring from racing in 2007. Mark will be remembered as a dedicated, loyal worker and loving grandfather. He loved his grandchildren and cherished the time he was able to spend with P.J. at the race track.
He is survived by his wife, Melissa (Leeson) Whaley, whom he married March 3, 2011 in Bellevue; step-daughters: Jessica Gaston, Cynthia (Eric) Sturgill, Tabatha Gaston, and Marya Gaston; 7 grandchildren; brother, Keith (Robin) Whaley; and nephew, Bradly (Sarah) Whaley.
Mark is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
A memorial service will be announced in the forthcoming weeks. Foos & Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue is in care of arrangements.
