Mark J. McConnell

Mark J. McConnell, age 60 of Attica, OH, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at his home. Mark was born January 13, 1966, in Bellevue, OH, the son of Gus E. and Catherine A. (Miller) McConnell. 

Mark was a man who found his greatest peace in the outdoors, where nature truly was his happy place. A proud veteran of the United States Army’s 82nd Airborne, he carried that same sense of dedication and discipline into every part of his life. He was an avid hunter, pursuing coon, deer, and just about anything that moved through the woods, always embracing the challenge and tradition of the hunt. Mark also took great pride in raising and breeding goats, tending to his animals and his land with care and purpose. He loved training and hunting with his dogs, as well as spending time in his garden, cultivating both crops and a sense of contentment. Perhaps most meaningful to him was sharing his knowledge and passion with others. He enjoyed mentoring his godson, friends’ sons, nephews, and cousins, passing down not just skills, but a deep appreciation for the outdoors and the bonds it creates.

Mark is survived by his siblings: Terry (Pat) McConnell, Mary (Ed) Ross, Gregory (Sherry) McConnell, Suzanna (George) Hintze, Nancy (Ron) Thomas, David (Cindy) McConnell, Theresa (Fred) Leber, Debbie (Scott) Dresser, and Valerie (Mark) Bumb; 26 nieces and nephews; 74 great-nieces and nephews; and 2 great-great nephews.  

Mark is preceded in death by his parents and great-niece, Annalise Murphy.

Friends will be received on Friday, April 10, 2026, from 9:30-10:30am at the St. Gaspar del Bufalo Catholic Church Social Hall, 16209 Co Rd 46, Bellevue, OH 44811. Mass will begin following visitation at 10:30am. Burial and military honors will follow at St. Sebastian Catholic Cemetery.
