Marion “Lee” Dougherty, age 91 of Bellevue, OH, passed away Saturday, October 19, 2024, at The Willows of Bellevue. Lee was born June 2, 1933, in Amsterdam, OH, the son of the late Raymond Lee and Marian (Nation) Dougherty.
Lee also known as "the lazy lion" loved trucking, flying and all things outdoors. He traveled the world in service of his country and the U.S. as an independent truck driver. He loved all animals including raising a lion cub to a full grown lion for 14 years (as anyone from Bellevue can attest). Good times followed him wherever he went. He served his family and lived life to the fullest. He will be missed forever and remembered with a smile.
Lee is survived by his sons: Raymond (Emily) Dougherty of Bellevue, and Carl (Trisha) Dougherty of Bellevue; grandchildren: Maximus Lee Dougherty, Laken Arthur Dougherty, and Ronald (Caroline) Rankin; great-grandchildren: Christian, Veronica, and Matthew; and sister, Jackie Courtney of Oregon.
In addition to his parents, Lee is preceded in death by his wife, Susan R. (Braun) Dougherty, and grandson, Jax Aaron Dougherty.
Friends will be received on Friday, October 25, 2024, from 10:00am until a funeral service beginning at 2:00pm at Foos & Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue, OH 44811. Burial will follow at Bellevue City Cemetery.
