With profound sadness we announce the passing of Margaret Hanes, our loving and devoted mother and friend to all whose lives she touched, on February 20, 2024. After long suffering from complications of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), she left us while sleeping peacefully at O’Neill Healthcare in North Ridgeville. She was in her 81st year. She was born July 23, 1942 in Frankfort, Kentucky the daughter of Melvin S. and Ruth E. (Withrow) Snodgrass.
While attending church, she met the love of her life, Richard James Hanes and they married in 1960. Margaret enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, needlepoint, sewing, and canning.
She loved to cook, had a flair for baking and kept an immaculate house. She was a member of Clyde Junior League of Women and worked as a volunteer at the American Red Cross for many years.
She was the beloved mother of daughters: Beth Ann (Chris) Jurczyk of Phenix City, Alabama, Linda Sue Reeves of El Mirage, Arizona, and Laura Faye (David Setzler) of Cleveland; grandmother of 8:
Bonnie Heath, Amy Dawley, Sarah Roberts, Tina Mosbrucker, Jaime Reeves, Kassi Sreerama, Ryan and Kyle Miller; great grandmother of 8: Jade Heath, Collin and Brody Dawley, Andrew and Lucas Roberts, Dylan and Mikayla Cardoso, and Jaelynn Jovita; and sister to Ruby Spivey of Andalusia, Alabama.
In addition to her parents, Margaret is preceded in death by her husband, Richard J. Hanes; daughter, Barbara Lynn Hanes, and sisters: Ellen Dixon and Helen Dixon.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, March 9th, 2024 at 1 pm at Bellevue Cemetery, Bellevue. A celebration of life will follow at The Midtown Event Center, 221 E. Main St., Bellevue.
