Loretta A. Hoy, 84, of Bellevue passed away Saturday, September 24, 2022, at the Bellevue Hospital after a long illness. She was born August 23, 1938, in Meadville, PA the daughter of the late Albert and Annabelle (Loughner) Keefe.
Loretta was a lab technician having graduated from Carnegie College of Medical Technology in Cleveland. She worked locally for the former Firelands Medical Association in Bellevue, The Bellevue Hospital, and completed her career at Providence Hospital.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church where she participated in the St Jude Study Club. During her years living in Sandusky, she helped found a Neighborhood Watch Group. She also sat on the ADA advisory board in Erie County. Her challenges with arthritis led her to lead arthritis and chronic pain support groups in Sandusky and later in Bellevue. She loved to garden and paint when she was able.
Survivors include her sons; Tim (Heather) Hoy of Sandusky, Duane Hoy of Rio Dell, CA, Douglas (Cindy) Hoy, MD of Clyde, Steve (Christine) Hoy of Floresville, TX. Her 7 grandchildren were her sunshine- Ellen, Jared, and Kevin Hoy, Serena (Damian) Stamper, Tegan Wood, Carlotta Hoy, and Steven Hoy as well as her 4 great-grandchildren – Elijah and Serenity Stamper, Cameron Wall and LilyAna Hoy. A brother; Robert (Roberta) Keefe of Lancaster, KY, her sister; Joyce Noel of Meadville, PA, and her sister-in-law; Sue Keefe of North Glen, CO also survive. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and treasured friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Don Keefe and her brother-in law Jack Noel. Her most recent beloved feline companion, Mia, also preceded her.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 from 4-7 p.m. at Foos & Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue, OH 44811
A funeral Mass will begin on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 231 E. Center Street, Bellevue. Burial will follow at Bellevue Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to The Arthritis Foundation, or the Huron County Humane Society.
