Lee Matter

Lee Matter, 64, of Bellevue passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at his home, following a brave and courageous battle with cancer.

He was born on March 18, 1961, in Bellevue, the son of the late Jerry Matter and Sandra “Sandi” (Krause) Matter. He married Mary Brooks of Bellevue on June 12, 1982, and together they raised three daughters.

Lee graduated from Bellevue High School and Terra State Community College. He was employed by Automatic Music in Painesville for 25 years and most recently retired from Fisher-Titus Medical Center in Norwalk, after proudly serving the community for the last 18 years.

Lee was a true family man, always showing an unwavering and steadfast support to his loved ones in every way. He enjoyed weekend mornings listening to music while building, repairing, or simply tinkering in his garage. Words cannot truly capture what Lee meant to his family. His grandchildren were a source of great pride, and they will forever miss their beloved Papa. He was the best husband, father, and grandpa, a true legend.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; his daughters: Sarah Matter, Erin (Matthew) Dickey, and Laura Matter, all of Bellevue; seven grandchildren whom he adored; mother, Sandi Matter, Bellevue; brother, Andy (Mona) Matter, Bellevue; sisters, Nita Matter, Bellevue and Michelle Matter-Albast, Columbus; sisters-in-law, Pam Matter, Tennessee, and Sue (Denny) Miller, Bellevue.

He is preceded in death by his father, Jerry and his brother, Tim Matter.

Friends will be received on Thursday, October 16, 2025, from 1 p.m. until the funeral service begins at 4 p.m. at Foos & Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue.
