Kenneth C. Wood, 88, of Bellevue passed away Sunday, January 16, 2022 at the Bethesda Care Center in Fremont. He was born October 22, 1933 in Clyde, Ohio the son of George and Viola (Reed) Wood.
Ken proudly served in the United States Army from 1954-1956 and earned his jump school diploma in March 1955. He worked at Norfolk Southern in Bellevue until retiring in 1999. Ken was always working; he was an accomplished craftsman and enjoyed gunsmithing and doing masonry work. He also enjoyed the outdoors, spending time hunting and fishing. He also took special interest in studying Civil War History. Most of all, Ken adored his grandchildren and watching them grow.
He is survived by his four children: Scott (Debbie) Wood of Bellevue, Lane (Jackie) Wood of Blacklick, Kerry (Dave) Cress of Castalia, and Karen Doore of Bellevue; 5 grandchildren: Thomas, Bryan, Joshua, Hannah and Owen; and 6 great grandchildren: Malia, Olivia, Delaney, Brynna, Grey, and Nova.
In addition to his parents, Ken is preceded in death by his brothers: Donald Wood, Arlin Wood, Norman Wood.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 from 5-7 p.m. at Foos & Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue. Masks will be available upon entrance. Graveside services with Military Honors at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Clyde, Ohio will be announced in the spring.
