JoAnn Ventura Obituary

JoAnn R. Ventura, 68, of Sandusky passed away suddenly Monday, January 25, 2021 at her home. She was born October 14, 1952 in Winfield, Kansas the daughter of Joseph and Pearl (Holley) Ventura.

JoAnn was a graduate of the University of Toledo earning her Bachelor’s Degree Summa Cum Laude in Communications. JoAnn was a member of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi and also obtained her Ohio Cosmetology Licensure. She was employed by The Bellevue Hospital in the Marketing Department until her retirement in 2018. At home, JoAnn enjoyed crafting, canning and knitting. JoAnn also enjoyed motorcycling, birdwatching, glamping and traveling throughout the United States. She was a fan of all Kansas City Sports but especially the Chiefs. She will be remembered for her great sense of humor, quick wit and one-liners. Most of all, she cherished spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her life partner of 25 years, Kathy Scheid of Sandusky; daughter, Holley (Lucas) Perry of Green Springs; stepchildren, Samantha (Mark) Bechtel of Sandusky, Hope (Andy) Jeska of Indian, Alaska, and Heather (John) Welch of Sandusky; and grandchildren: Kalynn Welch, Waverly Perry, Jacob Bechtel, Sophia Perry, Aaron Welch, Evangeline Ventura, Caleb Biller, and Ruthann Silvis.

In addition to her parents, JoAnn is preceded in death by her stepfather, Jacob Stephens; and brothers, Kenneth Sullins, George Ventura, and Jack VanDorn.
