James Milton Cheek passed away peacefully on Feb.1, 2025 at the Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky.
James was born on September 4, 1941 to Roy Cheek and Mamie Jean Cochran (Lester) in Caryville, Tennessee where he lived until his teenage years.
On June 23, 1969 he married Sue Ella Roark and they lived in Bellevue. Their family was their life! You could always depend on them. During the summer, you could find them in the backyard swinging on their swing, walking around town or at the flea market. They passed time in the winter with football and Nascar on Sundays. Great memories were made every year on vacations back home to see family.
James retired from Armstrong Air Conditioning Inc. in 2006 after 43 years of dedication. He received the title of Donut Grandpa as he brought them a donut party every week!
He is survived by his daughter, Pam & Bill Heimbaugh; son, Brian & Lesley Cheek; grandchildren: Toni & Curt Featheringill, Amanda & Kegan O'Mara, Glen & Alice Young, Ashley Young & Ahren Young; Great Grandchildren: Annabelle, Isabelle, Thomas Featheringill, Andromeda, Korbin O'Mara, Quynn Phillips and Henry Young; Two sisters: Jan Lester, Marsha Waterfeild; sister-in-law, Kathy Love; brother-in-law, John Bickford; and many nieces and nephews.
James is preceded in death by his parents; wife; siblings: Carl Cheek, Mildred Jurs, Ann Bolen, and in-laws: Mary, Edna, Thoe, Russell, Rudy, Delores, Carson, Debbie and Tammy.
A celebration of James and Sue’s life will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025. Friends will be received from Noon until a memorial service begins at 1 p.m. at Foos & Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue. Burial will follow at York Chapel Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.
