James Burns, 75, of Bellevue, passed away Monday, September 8, 2025, at The Cleveland Clinic. He was born May 12, 1950, in Conneaut, Ohio, to Joseph and Mary Ann (Heasman) Burns.
Jim was a 1968 graduate of Conneaut High School. After graduation, he was drafted into the United States Army and served in Germany. For 42 years, he was employed by Norfolk Southern Railroad, primarily as the storehouse clerk. He was a proud member of Eagles Aerie 490 in Bellevue, where he also worked as a bartender. An avid golfer, Jim could often be found at Sleepy Hollow Golf Course, where he also worked. Growing up in Conneaut, Jim loved Lake Erie sunsets and being on the water, and he always looked forward to trips back to his family's homestead by the lake. Above all, Jim was devoted to his family, especially his two beloved grandsons.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl (Valenti) Burns, whom he married on April 14, 1973, in Conneaut. Also surviving are his two children: Scott (Erin) Burns of Bellevue and Kristen Burns of Norwalk; two grandsons: Collin Burns and Cooper Ramey; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Burns, and sister, Cynthia Eigel.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, September 14, 2025, from 2-4 p.m. at Bellevue Eagles Aerie 490, 215 E. Main Street, Bellevue. Foos & Foos Funeral Service is assisting with arrangements.
