Hubert R. Willis

Hubert Ray Willis, age 95, of Bellevue, OH, passed away on June 25, 2025, at the Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky, OH. Hubert was born on April 23, 1930, the son of the late Columbus and Nannie (Son) Willis.

Hubert Willis was a devoted member of Providence Baptist Church, where he served in numerous leadership roles throughout the years and was honored as a true Pillar of the congregation. His faith was central to his life, guiding his service to others and grounding his Southern values. A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Hubert also dedicated over 70 years as a committed Free Mason.

A true sportsman at heart, Hubert was an enthusiastic fan of the Cleveland Indians, Browns, Cavs, and above all, the Alabama Crimson Tide. In the 1960’s, he coached the B of RT (Brotherhood of Railroad Baseball Team). He also coached the Union Bank Traveling Team where he won numerous tournaments.

Hubert took joy in simple pleasures—he was a faithful member of the Burger King Coffee Clash, where friendships were forged over countless morning coffees. But above all else, he cherished his role as a father and grandfather. A true Southern gentleman in every sense, Hubert lived a life marked by honor, humility, and love for family and community.

Hubert is survived by his children, Loretta (James) Baur of Norwalk, Michael (Deborah) Willis of Bellevue, and Robin (Pete) Lukas of Bellevue; grandchildren, Bradley (Kianna) Willis, Emily (Trent) Stamm, Joshua (Madison) Lukas, Jacob Lukas, and Seth (Tiffany) Cole; great-grandchildren, Marleigh Birdzell, Garrett Andrews, Jesse Cole, and Ayla Mae Lukas; and great-great granddaughter, Luna Birdzell.

In addition to his parents, Hubert is preceded in death by his siblings, Columbus Eugene Willis and Margaret Ann Miller.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Hubert's honor to the Stein Hospice Care Center 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 27, 2025, from 4:00-7:00pm at Foos and Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue, OH 44811. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at 11:00am at Foos and Foos Funeral Service with burial and military honors to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Clyde.
