Herbert J Goss, “The Kid from Brooklyn,” age 88, of Sandusky, Ohio, and a longtime resident of Bellevue, Ohio, passed away Friday, November 5, 2021. He was born August 29, 1933 in Brooklyn, New York, the son of Arthur and Helen (Patrick) Goss.
He is survived by his five children: Jacquie Crockett of Belpre, Ohio; Herb Goss Jr. (Nancy) of Martinsburg, West Virginia; Cyndi Vickery (Kevin) of Punta Gorda, Florida; Arthur Goss (Shari) of Fort Myers, Florida; and Glenn Goss (Jacquie) of Rossford, Ohio; along with 15 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Herb, a Korean War veteran, was a member of the Boy Scouts, the American Legion, and the Free & Accepted Masons. He was very talented artistically, enjoyed history and coaching Little League baseball, and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Herb was a parishioner and lector at Saints Peter and Paul Church in Sandusky, Ohio. He worked for Norfolk & Southern railway (formerly Norfolk & Western and the Nickel Plate Road) for over 35 years.
Friends will be received Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2021 from 1-3 and 5-7 pm at Foos and Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue, Ohio 44811.
On Friday, Nov. 12th, a funeral Mass will be held at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church at 510 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, Ohio at 10 am, followed by a graveside service at the Chapel at Meadow Green Memorial Park at 2602 Bogart Road, Huron, Ohio.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio in lieu of flowers.
