Hazel Baughn, 76, entered the arms of our heavenly father on Thursday, February 27, 2020 in Highland Park IL surrounded by her family. She was born in Adamsville, Alabama, the daughter of Mary Basil Townsend and Dennie Townsend.
She worked for Ford Motor Company for 30 years, retiring early and enjoying many years of traveling, gardening and spending time with her family, friends and beloved dogs. Hazel was a woman of great faith and deeply valued her relationship with God and her church family. She was a member of Bellevue Assembly of God for many years. She helped others discover the lord in classes that she taught at her church. She found peace in nature and loved sipping sweet tea in her back yard, watching birds or walking at the shrine. Walking into her home was an experience all its own, the smells of home-cooked food, the sound of her contagious laugh and the feeling of warmth and love surrounded you as you entered.
Hazel is survived by her children Sheila (Kevin) Timmons, and Michael (Laurie) Baughn. She had 7 grandchildren who brought great joy to her life and who she loved to spoil. Andrew, Brian, Angela, Michael Jr., Rachael, Adam and Elizabeth, sisters in law, Dorothy Townsend, Wilma Townsend, and Barbara Townsend.
She was also blessed with 19 great grandchildren. Hazel had many dear friends and family, a special friend in her life was George Snider.
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Fred, Thurman and Earl Ray Townsend.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 pm at Foos & Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue, OH. Funeral will be Wednesday at 11am at Foos & Foos Funeral Service. Hazel will be greatly missed by all who love her.
