Harold Leis, 85, of Tiffin passed away Friday, September 29, 2023 at Autumnwood Care Center in Tiffin. He was born April 1, 1938 in Bismark the son of Herbert and Loretta (Morman) Leis.
Harold served in the United States Army after high school and was stationed in Germany for some time. Following his time in the service, Harold returned to Bellevue and worked at the General Electric Lamp Plant until its closure. He then worked for Lighted Solutions and this job allowed him the opportunity to travel the world. He was a member of the Bellevue Eagles Aerie 490 and the Attica Knights of Columbus. In his spare time Harold enjoyed spending time on Lake Erie fishing and taking his boat to the islands when the fish weren’t biting. He also enjoyed bowling with the Bellevue Eagles and playing slow pitch softball. At home, he loved tending to his garden. In his later years, Harold could be seen riding his scooter all over Tiffin.
He is survived by his siblings: Donald Leis of Huron, Rita Stacklin of Tiffin, Jerry (Jeanne) Leis of Tiffin, and Paul (Nancy) Leis of Tiffin; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Joseph Stacklin.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 from 4-8 p.m. at Foos and Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue where the Rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. A funeral Mass will begin at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Church, 231 E. Center Street, Bellevue. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Sebastian Cemetery.
