Gregory L Rathbun, age 68 of Fremont, passed away Friday, February 19, 2021 at his home. Greg was born on April 16, 1952 in Camp Polk Louisiana, Greg is survived by his parents Donald and Barbara Rathbun of Cocoa Fla. Greg was the first of 3 children, Laura Rathbun and Jeffrey Rathbun both of Cocoa Fla. Greg is also survived by his cherished wife Catherine Rathbun -Fremont, his 4 beloved children Ryan Rathbun -Fremont, Katharine Rathbun Battelline (Nathan)-Bellevue, Cara McNichols (Evan) -Mary Esther Fla, and James Rathbun (Cheyenne) -Clyde. Two stepdaughters Melissa Mahl (Chad) -Bellevue, Jenna Kaemming (Corey) -Perrysburg, 11 grandchildren whom he adored, many nieces, nephews, and other in-laws.

Greg had many interests throughout his life. As a teen in Fla., he enjoyed surfing off the east coast which later made the lure to Calif. a reality. In California he first made his living working in Long Beach as a talented sign painter and pin striper. In the late 80’s he and his former wife Angela Sabo (Dan)- Bellevue, decided to move to Fremont Ohio and raise their children on the Rathbun family farm. While here he worked for Mercury Sign Co in Fremont, Century Marketing in Bowling Green, finally ending his working career at Whirlpool Corp. in Clyde as a maintenance supervisor. He retired in 2017 after 18 years of service along with his present wife Cathie.

Life on the farm was always full of things to do. Being a history buff and the family historian that he was, Greg achieved recognizing the Rathbun Family Farm (est. 1876) as a Century Family Farm by the State of Ohio. Greg was a man of great faith as well as a lifelong Detroit Tiger fan. In his spare time, he enjoyed collecting baseball memorabilia, going to Tiger baseball games, traveling, visiting friends and just enjoying time with his family.
