Gerald “Gerry” Kasuga, age 81, of Bellefontaine, passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at The Hospice of Central Ohio in Columbus. Born in Bellevue, Ohio, on September 24, 1944, he was the son of Alex P. and Rose (Artino) Kasuga. Gerry was a former resident of both Bellevue and Ely, Minnesota.
A 1962 graduate of Bellevue Senior High School, Gerry continued his education at The Ohio State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Wildlife Biology in 1980. His professional career included service as a clerk for the United States Bankruptcy Court in St. Paul, Minnesota, a secretary for the U.S. Army Readiness Group at Fort Snelling, and an office automation clerk for the Department of Veterans Affairs, also at Fort Snelling. Outside of his work, Gerry was an avid fisherman and a dedicated member of the American Legion.
Gerry is survived by his daughters, Delane Sloan of West Milton, Ohio and Lisa Sachs of Millbury, Ohio; 4 grandchildren; aunt, Nancy Barrett; and a large extended family of cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Peggy and Shari Kasuga.
A private memorial will be held. Foos and Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue is in care of arrangements. A private interment will take place at Bellevue Catholic Cemetery.
