Gerald F. "Jerry" Nieset

Gerald F. “Jerry” Nieset, age 91 of Clyde, passed away Friday, July 15, 2022, at his home. Jerry was born August 6, 1930 in Gibsonburg, OH, the son of the late Bernard and Lillian Nieset (Cornelius).

Jerry was married to Mary Kathryn “Kitty” Cullen on August 19, 1950, and she passed away on May 18, 2001. She was the mother of his seven children. They enjoyed dancing with the Buttons and Bows square dancing group in their younger days and enjoyed many trips together. Jerry was a skilled carpenter and could fix anything. If you needed any parts or lumber, he was your go to man finding it in his meticulous shop and home where he lived for over 70 years. He worked for the Clyde Lumber Company and MJ Brown Co. before starting his own business, Nieset Builders, with his son, Bill, until his retirement in 1992. He later married Mary Alice Keegan on February 14, 2004, and spent each day sorting pieces for the puzzles they put together. Jerry was an avid Clyde Fliers and Cleveland Indians fan. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Clyde, Ohio.

Jerry is survived by his second wife, Mary Alice Nieset (Keegan) of Clyde; children: Joseph (Barbara) Nieset of Fremont, David (Nancy) Nieset of Mishawaka, IN, William (Vicky) Nieset of Clyde, James Nieset of Clyde, Susan (Lee) Dymond of Clyde, Patricia (Randy) Kingsborough of Fremont, and Margaret “Peggy” (Christopher) Lieske of Clyde; 18 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; several step-children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren; sisters: Lauren (Vince) Golembiowski of Clyde, and Elizabeth Raths of Clyde; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Nieset of Columbus.

In addition to his parents, Jerry is preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Mary Kathryn “Kitty” Nieset (Cullen); and siblings: Margaret Karr, Eulalia Foos, Eileen Leffler, Norbert Nieset, and Donald Nieset.

Friends will be received on Monday, July 18, 2022, from 5-8pm at Foos Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 504 E. McPherson Hwy, Clyde, OH 43410. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at 10:30am at St. Mary Catholic Church, 609 Vine St, Clyde, OH 43410. Burial will follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.
