On Tuesday, November 25, 2025 Gary Yundt, 70, of Bellevue went to be with the Lord and loved ones in Heaven. He was born June 18, 1955 in Bellevue the son of Charles C. and Evelyn E. (Diehr) Yundt.
Gary worked 35 years at Routh Packing in Sandusky. During that time he also worked very hard pouring concrete and taught himself the skill of woodworking, making many beautiful pieces for family and friends.
His love for Ohio State football was unmatched except for the love he had for his children and grandchildren. His children and grandchildren were number one in his heart and his life, and it showed in every way. They called- he was there- no question! He was the epitome of integrity, loyalty, character and faith.
At the center of it all was his rock, his partner, and beloved wife, Melanie Burks-Yundt, who he married October 10, 2010. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure, and blended two families into one to double the love.
He is survived by his loving wife; son, Derek (Sarah) Yundt of Rossford; daughter, Alexis (Chris) Zahel of Bellevue; stepchildren: Ryan Lease, Miranda (Nate) Stout, and Ricci (Jay) Blizzard; grandchildren who lovingly called him “Papa”: Ashlyn, Braden, Holden, Baker, Bowie, Mara, Kenzie, Bryce, and Brexley; 2 great grandchildren: Aliza and Archer; brothers: Jon Yundt and Dennis Yundt; sister, Kay Brown; and mother-in-law, Phyllis Burks.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
A Celebration of Gary’s life will be announced at a future date. Foos & Foos Funeral Service, Bellevue is assisting with arrangements.
Gary was a passionate giver to “Smile Train” and St. Jude if anyone wishes to donate in his memory.
