Gary L. Sams

Gary L. Sams, age 74 of Norwalk, OH, went to be with his Lord surrounded by his loving family on Monday, June 10, 2024, at Heritage Village in Clyde, OH. Gary was born July 10, 1949, in Sandusky, OH, the son of the late Charles William and Alpha Laverne (Statesel) Sams.

Gary being a man of many talents, was a member of the Shoe String Players. His greatest passion was being a member of a Barber Shop Quartet. He proudly maintained a handlebar mustache for years to come. Gary’s love for music extended into playing the guitar. He developed twenty-nine patents during his tenure with Norweco. He enjoyed traveling with the love of his life, his wife, Donna (Missler).

Throughout the years Gary made many friends including special friends: Bill Babcock and Rick (Karen) Crawford. Gary enjoyed watching the Andy Griffith Show, Bonanza, and Gunsmoke with Donna and friends.

Gary is survived by his wife of 51 years, Donna (Missler) Sams of Norwalk; siblings: Charlene Gilliam, Frank (Dorothy) Sams, John (Gerry) Sams, and Rita (Thomas) Wechter; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Gary is preceded in death by his siblings: Marie Stout, Alpha Johns, Charles Sams, Earl Sams, Glenna Mullins, and Louis Sams.

A memorial service will be held  on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at 4:00 pm at Collins Church, 4290 Hartland Center Road, Collins, OH.
