Franklin Delano “Del” Hammond, 82, of Bellevue passed away Monday, December 9, 2019 at Metro Hospital in Cleveland. He was born February 16, 1937 in Wayne County, Delta, Kentucky the son of Elijah Denny and Beulah (Morrow) Hammond.
Del was the founder and owner of Hammond Stone/Northern Ohio Cut Stone. He served in the United States Marine Corps and was a member of VFW Post 1238 and Eagles Aerie 490.
He is survived by his son, Howard Pritchard of Crown Point, Indiana; significant other, Mary Ellen Smith of Bellevue; sister, Elizabeth Jo Fern (Arthur) Kitzler of Los Angeles, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Del was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marie Hammond whom he married July 25, 1959 in Chicago, IL; half-siblings: Nellie New, Lynn Turpin, Robert Hammond, Raylah Hammond, Lee Bianchi, Henderson Hammond; and siblings: Jean Windels, Cliff Hammond, William Clyde Hammond, Brentt Hammond, Conley Hammond, Don Hammond, Wanda Hammond Fese, Ron Hammond, Mark Hammond, Charles Lee Hammond.
Friends will be received on Saturday, December 14 from 11:30 a.m. until a funeral service begins at 1:30 p.m. at Foos & Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue. Burial will follow at Deyo Cemetery.
