Floyd R. Heft, age 84 of Fremont, passed away Sunday, December 19, 2021. Floyd was born February 10, 1937 in Fremont, the son of the late Ray and Mary (Heinselman) Heft.
Floyd worked for Al Baumann Chevrolet for 36 years until his retirement in 1999. He was very involved in the world of auto racing throughout his life. He was inducted into the Fremont Speedway Hall of Fame, in the class of 2020, for being an auto racing pioneer and race car builder. Many other Hall of Fame members drove the race cars he built. Floyd also enjoyed camping and being a hospice volunteer for ProMedica Memorial Hospice.
Floyd is survived by his daughters: Leah (Gary) Krumnow of Clyde, and Linda (Dudley) Tucker of Fremont; grandchildren: Greg (Katie) Krumnow, David (Nicole) Krumnow, Chad (Brittney) Bender, Matt (Holly) Bender, and Josh (Kristen) Bender; 10 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Helen (Phil) Rees of Gold Canyon, AZ.
In addition to his parents, Floyd is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley (Sheerer) Heft, whom he married August 3, 1957; sister, Gladys Hillsman; and brother-in-law, Walter Hillsman.
A graveside memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at 11:00am at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, 1793 W McPherson Hwy, Clyde, OH 43410.
