Ellinor Covella Obituary

Ellinor “Midge” Covella of Bellevue passed away Saturday, January 24, 2026 at the Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky.

Born on September 22, 1943 in Sandusky, OH, Midge was the daughter of the late Ervin Noah and Ingrid Ellinor (Jensen) Krisher.

She attended Margaretta Schools, graduating in 1961. During her school years she was a member of Cochran’s Majorettes in Port Clinton Ohio’s famous all girl military marching unit, which allowed her to travel to many states. She was also crowned Track Queen her senior year of high school.

Midge’s diverse career included working for James E. Green, DO, a physicians’ weight loss center, Erie Bay Graphics; WLCO radio in Clyde; and as an independent agent for United Truck Master, a tractor-trailer driving school in Clearwater, Florida.  She eventually retired from the EHOVE Career Center in Milan.

A creative soul, she enjoyed writing poetry for school, weddings, funerals and for friends needing kind words. She was a member of the Sandusky Banshees First Draw Club and earned third place in the state for the women’s competition.  Midge also enjoyed collecting McCoy Pottery and decorating vintage soaps for friends and family for every holiday.

In 1962, Midge married Charles Renwand, and together had two sons. Then in 1976 she married Lewis Covella and gained two stepsons.

Midge is survived by her husband of almost 50 years, Lewis R. Covella,  two sons:  David C. Renwand and Danial B. (Shari) Renwand; stepsons: James K. (Christine) Covella and Christopher J. Covella.  She is also survived by her grandchildren: Ben (Emily) Renwand, Bryon (Samantha) Renwand, Tony (Mindy) Renwand, Casey (Samantha) Renwand, Kaitlyn (Mitchell) Gildenmeister, Riley (Nevaeh) Renwand; step-grandchildren: Colin (Ashtyn) Covella, Kaylee DaCosta and Kristen Covella, Ryan and Courtney Haley, and Mitchell Strow; great-grandchildren: Raymond, Brooklyn, Bryson, Braxton, Lillian, Preston, Parker, Paisley, Lyla, Nevaeh, Makaeh and Isaaeh; step-great-grandchildren: Grayson, Elliot and Malakai; her sister Valarie M. (Dennis) Grahl; niece and nephew Kendra (Rod) Smith and Drew (Erica) Grahl and great nephews Dane and Bren Smith, Hunter and Gavin Grahl and cousin Martha (Jeff) Mariea.

She also leaves behind her beloved Shih-Tzus, Giavanna and Gidget. 

A Celebration of Life for Midge will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at the Knights of Columbus in Bellevue, located at 816 E. Monroe Street. Friends and family are welcome to gather from 11:00am-1:00pm, followed by a brief memorial presentation shared by her family. Interment will be in Castalia Cemetery.  Foos & Foos Funeral Service, Bellevue is in care of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky or please plant a tree in Midge's honor.
