Elizabeth Ann Young, 83, of Bellevue, passed away on September 4, 2023 at the Bellevue Care Center. She was born August 4, 1940 in Clay County, West Virginia.
Liz and her husband, John, moved to Bellevue, Ohio in 1965 and stayed in this area to raise their family. He preceded her in death in 2007.
Affectionately known as Liz or Lizzie, she had a profound love for God and her family. Once you met Liz, you never forgot her quick wit and kindness. She was one-of-a-kind. She definitely put her family first. She was a great cook, an amazing seamstress, but more importantly, a devoted mom and grandmother. Liz was a member of Mount Carmel Church for nearly 60 years and served God in numerous capacities.
She held a variety of jobs over the years including seamstress, factory worker, deli worker and retail clerk in several area stores. She also owned her own store, Liz’s Fabrics. She always remembered fondly working at Dixon Ticonderoga, Goodwill, The Bellevue Care Center and Hogue’s because of the many lasting friendships she made during her time at each place. She retired from Hogue’s at the age of 78.
She is survived by her sons Donald (Gela) Nutter, Spring Hill, Florida; James (Lisa) Young, Republic, Ohio, daughter, Johnna Young, Norwalk; step daughter, Margaret Young, Fremont; 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and three great, great grandchildren; brothers, Eddie (Mary Anna) Blankenship, Atwater, Ohio and Alfred (Sue) Blankenship, Frametown, West Virginia; sister, Iona Legg, Duck, West Virginia; brother-in-law Charles Ward, Elkview, West Virginia; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, John, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Gordon “Jack” Nutter; mother and stepfather, Della and Autie Salisbury; son, Michael Nutter; infant daughter, Kimberly Dawn Nutter; stepsons, Robert Young and John Andrew Young; brother and sister-in-law, Keith and Margie Salisbury; sisters, Barbara Parsons and Bonnie Ward; and brother-in-laws, Eugene Parsons and Jerry Legg.
Friends will be received on Friday, September 8 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Foos & Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue. A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 9 at Mount Carmel Church, 4997 Co Rd 183, Clyde, OH 43410. Burial will follow at York Chapel Cemetery, on County Road 292 in Bellevue.
