Elizabeth Laura (Amanat) McBroom , age 80, of Clyde, OH, passed away on July 17, 2025, at the Willows of Bellevue. Laura was born on June 28, 1945, the daughter of the late Aristides and Elizabeth (Vanwart) Amanat.
Laura was a devoted and active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where she faithfully served in many roles, including as a Eucharistic minister and Sunday School teacher. Generous with her time and spirit, she made a lasting impact through her years as a track coach and volunteer cafeteria worker. Laura also gave back to her community as a member of the Clyde Eagles Auxiliary Post #2291 and proudly served as Den Mother for Cub Scouts Pack #320.
Her caring nature extended far beyond her immediate family, she was known to many as a second mom, always ready to lend a hand or a listening ear. As the beloved "Warden of the Willows" during her time at The Willows in Bellevue, she continued her tradition of nurturing those around her with warmth and humor.
Laura was the proud matriarch of a home that welcomed all. Her kitchen table was a gathering place for friends, neighbors, and anyone in need of a good meal or good company. Her love of cooking was known by many, especially her famous meatloaf, and no one ever left Butternut Ridge hungry. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was a huge fan of Patrick Swayze, once even sneaking her children out to watch Dirty Dancing at a friend’s house.
Above all, Laura found her greatest joy in being a loving Mother and Nana. Whether by blood or by bond, she took care of all who came into her life with grace, laughter, and unconditional love.
Laura is survived by her children, Dan (Karen) McBroom, Laura (Nick) Lopez, Holly (Robert) Schwartz, and Michael (Autumn) McBroom; grandchildren, Cole, Ian, Betsy, Dominic, Zachary, Alora, Kelsey, Trevor, Lexi, Brooke, Niko, and Bennett; great-grandchildren, Ali, Mason, Mac, Aris, Elizabeth Laura VIII, Jayde, Meelah, Nolan, and Sebastian; and sister-in-law, Madge “Butch” McBroom.
In addition to her parents, Laura is preceded in death by her husband, Hollis McBroom, whom she married on November 18, 1968, in Washington, DC; and siblings, Wanda Shuhart, Bertha Mae Addleman, and Thomas Amanat.
