Edwin D. Kern, 99, of Bellevue, passed away on Monday, October 6, 2025, at Twilight Gardens in Norwalk. He was born on February 3, 1926, in Bellevue, to Claude J. and Edna P. (Ingram) Kern.
Ed, the youngest of six boys, was a 1944 graduate of Bellevue High School and served in the United States Army. He had a passion for art, creating many paintings and portraits. Ed was employed as a storekeeper for N&W railroad until his retirement in 1987.
He married Dolores (DeCaro) on March 2, 1963, in Norwalk. She preceded him in death in 2011.
Ed is survived by his son, Richard Stegman of Bellevue; his daughter, Donna (Paul, Sr.) Schaffer of Bellevue; 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Carolyn Stegman.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Mark Stegman; brothers: Ralph, Robert, Donald, Kenneth, and Charles Kern; and great-grandson, Noah Stegman.
The family extends a special thank you to Ed’s great-granddaughter, Maddy, whose devoted care and support brought him great comfort.
Friends will be received on Saturday, October 11, 2025, from 1:00pm until military honors at 4:00pm, at Foos & Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue, OH 44811.
