Edith “Shortie” Milkie, 88, of Avon and formerly of Bellevue passed away Sunday, March 8 at the Ganzhorn Suites in Avon. She was born September 1, 1937 in Bellevue the daughter of Ralph and Marjorie (Simmons) Foos.
She married Duane “Butch” Milkie on September 14, 1957; He preceded her in death in 2004.
Edith was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Bellevue. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, friends, and family.
She is survived by her children: Jody Milkie of Westlake, Ohio, Brett (Kris) Milkie of Avon Lake, Ohio, Dana (Mary) Milkie of Denver, Colorado, Marc (Kay) Milkie of University Heights, Ohio, and Todd (Julie) Milkie of Avon Lake, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; sisters: Helen Milkie, Martha Dise, Nancy (Lee) Clark, and Carol (Greg) Zimmerman; and sisters-in-law, Gail Foos, Jane Milkie and JoEllen Milkie;
In addition to her parents and husband, Shortie is preceded in death by her son, Blair Milkie; grandson, Michael Milkie; brother, Gerald Foos; and brothers-in-law, David Milkie, Robert Milkie, Mike Milkie, W. Eugene Milkie, Roger Milkie, Donald Shaver, and James Dise.
Friends will be received on Thursday, March 12 from 4-7 p.m. at Foos & Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue where the Rosary will be recited at 3:30 pm. A funeral Mass will begin on Friday at 1 pm at Immaculate Conception Church, 231 E. Center Street, Bellevue. Burial will follow in Bellevue Catholic Cemetery.
