David Matter

David Matter, 83, of Clyde  passed away Sunday, February 5, 2023 at his home.  He was born May 27, 1939 in Bellevue, Ohio the son of Amos and May (Hughes) Matter.

David served in the United States Army as a mechanic and was stationed in France during the Cold War.  He was employed by the Whirlpool Corporation for 40 years where he worked as a maintenance millwright.  David loved to fish, attend flea markets and auctions, and was an avid collector of all things.  Most of all David loved his family and cherished the time he got to spend with them.

He is survived by his children: Shawn (Brenda) Matter, Deanna (Gary Vera) Matter, Sara Roach, and Marjorie (David) Ingram; step-son, David Monday; sisters, Dorothy (Darrell) VanHoosier and Fern (Clarence “Shorty”) Dietz; David was a grandfather to many.

In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen (Monday) Matter and son, Eric Matter.

Friends will be received on Friday, February 10, 2023 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at Foos Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 504 E. McPherson Hwy, Clyde.  A funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home with burial to follow at McPherson Cemetery.  A luncheon will be held following committal at the Clyde Eagles.
