Daniel B. Blevins

Daniel B. Blevins, age 83 of Clyde, passed away Friday, July 1, 2022, with family by his side.  Daniel was born May 19, 1939, in Harold, KY, son of the late Ransom and Carmie (Castle) Blevins.

Daniel retired from Whirlpool after 45 years.  He was a loyal and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.  Along with his faith in God, his family came first. This is his daughter Melody writing this paragraph, and after struggling to write a typical, formal obituary, I give up.  I will tell you on behalf of our family that Daniel, Dad, & Grandpa was one of the best men on this earth.  He worked his entire life to provide for us and spend time with us.  He loved us and we knew it.  And he loved mom.  When he went to the nursing home, I would check on him every morning and the first thing he would say is “how’s mom?”  The last time dad was able to speak, the morning of the day before he passed, he said “mom.”  Even though the only word he said was “mom”, I knew he was asking about her.  He loved her so.  His friends and those who knew him describe him as the kindest man they’ve ever known.  That is who Daniel, Dad, grandpa, and friend was and he will be greatly missed.

Daniel is survived by his wife, Mary Blevins (Furman) whom he married on February 7, 1961 in Betsy Layne, KY; children: Sue Blevins of Pennsylvania, Melody Blevins of Clyde, and Daniel C. (Jennifer Galiher) Blevins of Newark, OH; grandchildren: Alan (Alicia) Norton II, Alexis (Ben) Miller, Alex Souders, Jakob Jaeger, Tyler Galiher, and Michael Galiher; great-grandchildren: Alan Norton III and Isabella Norton; sisters-in-law: Marideth Meade and Christine Furman; and multiple nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Daniel is preceded in death by his siblings: James, Waneda, Lou, Nina, Clyde, Ann, Glenn and Denver; sisters-in-law: Grace Gibbs and Beth Furman; brother-in-law, Johnny Furman.

Friends will be received Thursday, July 7, 2022, from 11a-1 pm & 5-7 pm at Foos Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 504 E. McPherson Hwy, Clyde, OH 43410. A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 8, 2022 at 11 am, also at the funeral home.  Burial will follow at McPherson Cemetery.
