Craig Schwiefert, age 77, of Bellevue, passed away on Monday, June 15, 2026, at Firelands Regional Medical Center in Sandusky. Born in Sandusky on April 17, 1949, he was the son of John R. and Allene (Koch) Schwiefert.
A 1967 Perkins High School graduate, Craig served in the United States Army until his honorable discharge in 1970. Upon returning to Ohio, he began a career with General Motors, where he worked until his retirement in 1999. Craig had a passion for bowling, drag racing, Harley Davidson motorcycles, and following the Cleveland Indians.
Dedicated to his community and fellow veterans, he was a member of VFW Post 1238 and Eagles Aerie 490. He was also a committed participant in POW Biker memorials and the DAV.
Craig is survived by his wife, Judith (Stevens), whom he wed on July 28, 1988, in Bellevue. His memory is cherished by his children, Nikki Schwiefert and Cody Schwiefert; his stepsons, Brandon Smith and William Stevens; his sister, Deborah Pugh; and his six grandchildren: Emmitt Schwiefert, Kye Stevens, Riley Stevens, Addalee Smith, Hailee Smith, and Logan Pappenfus. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will take place on Sunday, June 21, 2026, from 11 a.m. until the funeral service with Military Honors begins at 3 p.m. at Foos & Foos Funeral Service, located at 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue.
