Christine Whitaker

Christine Whitaker, 68, of Port Clinton passed away Friday, December 18, 2020 at University Hospital Parma Medical Center.  She was born December 9, 1952 in Fremont, Ohio the daughter of George W. and Della Mae (Sparks) Love.

She married Henry “Gene” Whitaker on April 22, 1971 in Sharon, Pennsylvania.  Christine was devoted to her husband, sitting at his bedside until she became ill herself.  He preceded her in death in 2012.

Christine was a housewife and known to many as “grandma” and loved by all, especially the children at Bellevue Assembly of God where she taught Sunday school for 10 years.  She enjoyed playing cards, crafts, crocheting, cooking, baking and putting together banquets. In her earlier years, her brothers and sisters enjoyed listening to her sing while doing the dishes.  She will be remembered for her “servant’s heart” and her love of hospitality towards everyone.

She is survived by her son, Aaron (Leigh Ann) Whitaker of Port Clinton; daughters, Beth (Ron Anderson) Desautels of Bellevue, Jamie (Mike) Snyder of Port Clinton; Grandchildren: Josh, Joe, Devin, Bradly, Evan, Emily “Sophie”, Mason, Liam, Rikki, Abi; siblings, George (Darlene) Love of Fremont, Clifford (Jerry) Love of Cygnet, OH, Oklea Guerrero of Gibsonburg, Roxanne (Jeff) Dewise of McClure, Ohio, Louise (Randy) Ladd of Bellevue, Mary Shaffer of Bellevue; and sister-in-law’s, Linda Love and Vickie Whitaker; brother-in-law’s: Sam (Betsy) Whitaker, Tom (Tammy) Whitaker and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Rosco Love; mother-in-law, Mary Whitaker; brother-in-law, David Whitaker; and sister-in-law, Ruth Whitaker.

Private graveside services will be held at Restlawn Memorial Park, Huron, Ohio.  Foos & Foos Funeral Service, Bellevue is in care of arrangements.
