Charles Ruffing

Charles A. Ruffing, 85, of Brookville, Ohio passed away peacefully in his sleep December 5, 2020 at home. He was born June 13, 1935 in Bellevue, Ohio, the son of Clarence and Mary Alice (Lutz) Ruffing.

Charles was a 1953 graduate of Bellevue High School. Known as “Sparky” by his fellow GE electricians, Charles had a sharp mind, and was still problem-solving electrical challenges with his sons during visits. Charles loved watching all sports, especially Ohio State football and Cleveland Indians baseball. Charles was a member of Church of the Transfiguration, West Milton, Ohio and former member of Immaculate Conception Church, Bellevue.

Charles married Beverly Ann (Vickery) Ruffing February 27, 1960. They enjoyed 49 years of marriage traveling to Ohio State games, visiting the North Carolina coast and Arizona, camping, and visiting the Bellevue Eagles with friends. They found great joy in vacationing with their sons Jeffrey and Marc and taking care of their grandchildren.

Charles is survived by sons Jeffrey (Sarah) of Arcanum, Ohio and Marc of Tarboro, North Carolina; grandchildren Alyssa, Gillian, Jacob, Lucas, and Brynn; brothers, Robert (Irene) Ruffing and Gerald (Sharon) and sister, Rita Vickery, all of Bellevue; numerous other family and friends; and special friends Roxy, Rachelle, and Heather and their families, who provided compassionate care to Charles during the last years of his life.

Charles is preceded in death by wife Beverly, sister Marilyn, brother Richard, and parents Clarence and Mary Alice.

A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, December 10th, 2020, 11 am at Immaculate Conception Church, 231 E Center St., Bellevue, with private burial to follow at York Chapel Cemetery.

Current social distancing and mask protocols will be observed as directed by the State of Ohio.
