Charles Norman Obituary

Charles (Chuck) L. Norman passed away at 61 on January 21, 2026.

Chuck was born on August 23, 1964 in Bellevue, Ohio. He attended Bellevue High School where he played offensive and defensive guard for the football team, which won the 1981 league championship. In 1986, Chuck graduated with an accounting degree from the University of Toledo.

Chuck worked as an accountant for Ernst & Young for 23 years after graduation, rising to the level of partner and meeting the love of his life D’aun. The two of them purchased The Island House Hotel and Restaurant with loans from family, where he learned many lessons about hospitality, grilling, and running a business. He later moved to UHY Advisors, where he became known for hosting popular client fishing charters at the Catawba Island Club and golf outings at Inverness Club.

Chuck adored his wife D’aun, and celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary last month with a bouquet of 36 red roses. They loved spending time together, whether going out for date night, golfing, or just relaxing at home. He memorized his wedding vows, which he would recite to D’aun on anniversaries.

One of Chuck’s greatest joys was being a father to his beloved son Chase (24). He enthusiastically embraced, supported and encouraged Chase’s goals. He went to great lengths to set Chase up for success and happiness, and was more proud of his son than anything he ever accomplished himself.

Chuck’s top priority was family. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles L. Norman, and his stepfather, Walter Barnett. Chuck called his mother Lois (Artino) Barnett (88) every Sunday without fail, often to talk about football. He dearly loved his twin sister Cheryl Norman (and her husband Carl Adler) and younger sister Nicole (Barnett) Grasso (and her husband Paul). He relished time with his nephews Cameron and Colin Grasso who shared his love of fishing and fireworks. Chuck felt so fortunate that both his and Daun’s families enjoyed getting together for annual Cape Cod vacations, Memorial Day weekends, and other holiday gatherings.

Almost every day since moving in 2024, he expressed gratitude for living in his dream home, on the lake, where he frequently went fishing and canoeing. Another great joy of Chuck’s was gathering with friends for drinks, dinners, golf, and Euchre, whether at home, the pub, the club, or abroad. Chuck was ecstatic last year when The Ohio State University won the College Football National Championship, and always wore his scarlet and gray proudly.

Chuck was our family’s greatest Euchre player, fisherman, and supporter. He was caring, dependable, and strong. He wanted the best for his family and friends, and we feel blessed to have had him in our lives. Chuck knew how to go big or go home.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 29 from 4-7pm at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, 1800 W Maple Road, Birmingham MI. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 30 with doors opening at 9:30am and service from 10-11:30am.

A second visitation will be held on Saturday, January 31 from 9-11am followed by a short memorial at Foos & Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue OH.

Chuck will be laid to rest at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Bellevue, Ohio.
