Catherine Beat

Catherine Beat, 85, of Bellevue passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at the Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.  She was born November 19, 1933 in Willard the daughter of Arthur and Mary Ann (Mahl) Bauman. 

Catherine was a member of St. Gaspar del Bufalo Church and its Altar Rosary Society.  She enjoyed cooking and baking and her apple and chocolate pies will be missed.  She was also a member of the Eagles Auxiliary, 4 County Young-At-Heart, and volunteered at the Sorrowful Mother Shrine.  She loved games whether it was playing Euchre and Pinochle or teaching one of her grandchildren and great grandchildren how to play board games.

She is survived by her husband, Herman Beat, whom she married Sept. 5, 1959 at St. Michael’s Church in Marywood; Four daughters: Deb (Allan Prestridge) Templin of Salt Lake City, UT, Karen (Don Carr) Booth of Bellevue, Ruth (John Olalde) Hoffman of Fremont, and Peggy (Jim Ruma) Beat of Bay Village; 6 grandchildren: Nick Hoffman, Jena Seal, Jeremy Booth, Benjamin Templin, Domenic Ruma and Olivia Ruma; 2 great grandchildren: Oliver Hoffman and Brody Seal; and one sister, Rita Courtright of Willard.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Virginia Fidler; and brother, Paul Bauman.

Friends will be received on Sunday, October 20, 2019 from 2 – 6 p.m. at Foos & Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue where the Rosary will be recited at 1:30 p.m..  A funeral Mass will begin on Monday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Gaspar del Bufalo Church, 16209 E County Road 46, Bellevue, OH 44811.  Burial will follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery.
